Concurrent translation on collaborative platforms

چکیده
Abstract The advent of AI-supported, cloud-based collaborative translation platforms have enabled a new form online – ‘concurrent translation’ (CT). CT refers to commercial performed on such by multiple agents (translators, editors, subject-matter experts etc.) simultaneously, via concurrent access. Although the practice has recently gained more ground, research is scarce. present article reports selected key findings study that investigates translators’ experiences with survey 804 professional translators working in mode across different platforms. Despite affordances as peer learning, positive competition, speed, flexibility volume work and time, reduced responsibility stress, workflow comes its substantial challenges time pressure, negative self-revision research, all which result quality compromised for speed.

Grassroots Efforts in Contemporary Urban Mapping: An Analysis of Alternative Uses of Collaborative Platforms
Technologies have started to overlap new virtual communication and information layers on top of the urban physical territory, thus bringing along distinct possibilities of social organization. Regarding this phenomenon and intending to achieve improvement in a great variety of fields from Politics to Urban Planning, the terms of Smart or Digital Cities among others have been adopted, still with...
متن کاملConcurrent and Accurate Short Read Mapping on Multicore Platforms
In this paper we introduce a novel parallel work-flow-based aligner for fast and accurate mapping of RNA sequences on servers equipped with multicore processors. Our software, named HPG Aligner W1, leverages the speed of the BurrowsWheeler Transform to map a large number of RNA fragments (reads) rapidly, as well as the accuracy of the Smith-Waterman algorithm to deal with conflictive reads. The...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Concurrent Red-Black Trees on HTM Platforms
In this paper we analyze the performance of concurrent redblack trees using two HTM implementations, Intel’s Transactional Synchronization Extensions (TSX) on Haswell processors and IBM’s Power8 HTM. We parallelize bottom-up and top-down red-black trees using coarse-grained transactions and evaluate their performance. Our experimental results show that HTM can outperform lock-based implementati...

متن کاملCollaborative Translation Environment on the Web
This paper describes a comprehensive translation environment build on the Internet. This environment is designed not only to translate web pages but also to support translation work on the web. We first introduce a basic idea and implementation of this environment and then compare it to conventional machine translation (MT) systems available on the web and translation memories.
